Merle Haggard tribute show

FRIDAY AT MAIN STREET PIZZA

When Merle Haggard passed away last month on his birthday, the world lost a legend. When local musician and country music aficionado Nathan Garrett of Widow Pills realized that no one was planning a tribute show, he leaped into action. He managed to gather more than 10 local musicians for a self-proclaimed “porch-picking” tribute to our dearly departed Hag. Come eat some pizza and sing along. All ages. Free. 7 p.m.

The Story Continues and Hindsight

FRIDAY AT FRESH PRODUCE RECORDS

Punk music celebrates creativity and camaraderie in a way that is unlike any other genre of music. Not one, but two, local punk bands that have burst out of the new 5/4 Music Space will be bringing their fast and furious show to Fresh Produce. All ages. $3. 8 p.m.

Macon Pops Rooftop Concert

SATURDAY AT THE MULBERRY STREET PARKING DECK

A six-piece version of Macon Pops, led by multi-Grammy award winner Steve Moretti, will be playing songs “through the ages” for concertgoers with a beautiful view of downtown Macon as the backdrop. Just Tap’d and Outlaw BBQ will be selling their wares. FYI: The parking deck is located at the corner of Mulberry Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. $10. 7:30 p.m.

Stone Senate

SATURDAY AT THE HUMMINGBIRD STAGE AND TAPROOM

Led by 6-foot-7-inch frontman Clint Woolsey, Stone Senate will certainly grab your attention. Though the five-piece band hails from Nashville, Tennessee, the guys cite both the Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd as major influences, so we imagine they’ll fit right in here in Middle Georgia. This date is part of their East Coast run, so be sure to catch them on their way through town. $5. 10:30 p.m.

Ken Trimmins Jazz Quartet

SUNDAY AT THE DOUGLASS THEATRE’S FRONT PLAZA

Fight the climbing temperatures with some cool jazz during Jazz in the Courtyard in the plaza in front of the historic Douglass Theatre. Ken Trimmins is from Brunswick, but his career in the military and in music have taken him far and wide, including performing at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the Atlanta Montreux Jazz Festival and an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Ken and his band play a “versatile playlist including contemporary jazz, traditional jazz, R&B, big band and more,” so they’ll surely play something that you like. Food from Francar’s will be available for purchase as well. Free. 7 p.m.
