More than 80 bands confirmed for Bragg Jam’s 2016 concert crawl

My air-conditioning is starting to run full time. Socks have become a distant memory. All tea must now be iced. The mosquitoes are biting me the second my (bare) feet step through the door. Which means ... it’s Bragg Jam announcement time!

The Bragg Jam board is ready to unpack the full lineup for our 2016 concert crawl, which will take place July 30. Our stellar entertainment committee has put together more than 80 acts — ranging from country to rock, hip-hop to folk, and soul to experimental. About 50 of those acts are homegrown Georgians, showing off our dedication to our state’s incredible wealth of musical talent.

Of course, we’re especially proud of Macon’s own musicians, like Floco Torres, who will be bringing his “Big Band” experiment back, plus Good Night Alive, Elroy Love, Cult of Riggonia and Maggie Renfroe — all prime examples of the range of excellent local talent that Macon continues to produce.

Mixing with these local lads and lasses will be some thrilling headliners. Austin, Texas, Americana boys Shakey Graves are topping the bill, fresh from successful festival appearances at Shaky Knees Music Festival, Mo Pop and FloydFest, and TV appearances with Conan O’Brien, Seth Meyers, David Letterman and Austin City Limits, plus opening gigs with the likes of Dawes and Macon-favorite Jason Isbell.

Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors’ blend of folk and rock has been creeping up in popularity for 10 years now. You’ve probably heard them without even knowing it, as the band’s music has received 40 TV placements, appearing on “How I Met Your Mother,” “Criminal Minds,” “Parenthood,” “Nashville,” “House,” “Justified” and more.

Macon loves its country music. One of the most exciting acts we’ve booked for the genre is Josh Thompson, whose songs “Won’t Be Lonely Long,” “Beer on the Table” and “Cold Beer with Your Name on It” have been making some serious dents in the charts, with more than one million plays on Spotify and YouTube. And then there are his songwriting accolades, with hits penned for the likes of Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley.

Other notables include Atlanta roots rockers Larkin Poe, bedroom anti-folk singer Frankie Cosmos, Lucinda Williams and Bruce Springsteen fave Dylan LeBlanc, and four-time Grammy Award winner Trae Pierce & the T-Stone Band.

All in all, if you count yourself as a music fan, you’ll have a tough time not finding something to tickle your fancy. The full lineup is now available for viewing, as are tickets for purchasing, at BraggJam.org.

See y’all in July!
