Hear MKTO, John Bellion and more at Bearstock
Now an official Cherry Blossom Festival event, Bearstock returns Saturday to Tattnall Square Park.
Hosted by Mercer University's student programming board QuadWorks, the outdoor music festival kicks off at 1 p.m. and includes Electric Suns, Sam Burchfield, Good Night Alive, Savannah Alday and Wiley from Atlanta in the afternoon. Headliners DNK, DJ Elephante, Jon Bellion and MKTO take the stage later in the day.
The pop/hip-hop duo MKTO, made up of Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller, released their debut single, "Thank You," in 2013 after meeting on the set of the Nickelodeon television series "Gigantic" in 2010, according to a news release.
Jon Bellion is a singer, songwriter, producer and rapper who has written, produced and been featured on tracks by Jason Derulo, Zedd, Rihanna and B.o.B., and has released four mixtapes of his own. Producer and DJ Elephante "is a classically trained pianist and self-taught guitarist ... known for his remixes of songs such as Clean Bandit's 'Rather Be,' Calvin Harris' 'Summer,' Lorde's 'Team' and Katy Perry's 'Dark Horse,' " according to the release. Pop/rap duo DNK is made up of Kayla Fisher and David Davis, who have recorded songs with respected producers ranging from Aaron Sprinkle to RedOne.
"QuadWorks is excited about this year's lineup and the diversity it is going to bring," Devanshi Patel, a Mercer senior who serves as president of QuadWorks, said in the release. "We look forward to seeing the community come out and enjoy our annual event."
Food vendors will be on hand, and coolers are welcome, but no alcohol is allowed.
