Cherry Blossom Festival's food trucks to fill bellies on Third Street
In its fourth year, the Cherry Blossom Festival's Food Truck Frenzy is growing, and organizers are hoping the weather cooperates.
"When we started, it was rained out, and the second year, we had one day rained out. Last year, we had about nine trucks, the weather was beautiful and we had huge crowds, so we decided to expand it even further," said festival president and CEO Jake Ferro, adding that 18 trucks are set to serve visitors this weekend on Third Street in downtown.
Some of the trucks' food includes hamburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, Bahamian fusion, flatbread pizza, Indian and French cuisine and doughnuts.
"We have a lobster truck that is very, very popular that was featured on the TV show 'Shark Tank.' We will have kinds of unique things; the trucks are very, very popular," Ferro said, adding that beer also will be on sale and live music will be played both days.
"We hope for weather like last year; it was just storybook, with people sitting on the grass, kids running around, people brought their dogs," he said. "It was a bit of Americana."
