Celebrate Elvis' 80th birthday with performance at Douglass Theatre
In honor of Elvis Presley's 80th birthday, the singer will be brought to life Saturday on stage at the Douglass Theatre by impersonator Jason Sikes.
Randy Stephens, of Warner Robins, will open the show with songs by Frank Sinatra and other Las Vegas legends, and he will be followed by Presley's stepbrother Ricky Stanley.
"He will be speaking for 15-20 minutes about how Elvis came into his life, telling stories and taking questions; then he'll be out in the lobby afterward," Sikes said.
The second half of the show will feature Sikes in a performance typical of one of Presley's Las Vegas shows, including his classics, upbeat songs, ballads, gospel music and a tribute to American servicemen.
"I wear one of the traditional jumpsuits and hand out scarves," Sikes said. "I may go back and try to re-create one of the playlists Elvis performed in Macon from top to bottom."
After the show, Sikes will be available in the lobby to meet attendees and take pictures.
