Back City Woods with Widow Pills

FRIDAY AT THE COX CAPITOL THEATRE

Bluegrass rock 'n' rollers Back City Woods are back with a new album, which they've named "The Light. The Dark. The Dusk." They plan to birth said record into the world during this show at the Capitol, so you can bet you'll get a nice mix of old familiar favorites and new foot-stompers. They'll be joined by locals Widow Pills, who play the kind of country music you might hear at a dive bar on Mars. Doors: 7 p.m./Show: 8 p.m. $7-$10.

The Winter Music Festival

FRIDAY AT THE HUMMINGBIRD STAGE AND TAPROOM

This newly minted festival brings some of Macon's finest alternative rock the Hummingbird. Shoegaze-y instrumentalists One Horse Parade will be headlining the event, and they'll be joined by Good Night Alive (who just released a new record) and Rewind Retry. There also will be sets by Choir of Babble and Shana Hargrove to open the night. If all goes well, the organizers hope to turn this into an expanded yearly happening, so get out there and show some support. 8 p.m. $5.

Frank Hurricane with Buck Gooter and Mactown Fam Band

FRIDAY AT FRESH PRODUCE RECORDS

Frank Hurricane's bandcamp page states that his music is "spiritual mountain psychedelic gangsta folk." When and if you figure out what that means, please let us know. In the meantime, know this: Frank's live show is intense and unwieldy in a manner that demands the audience to embrace the strange and savor the moment. Frank will be joined by Virginia's Buck Gooter, whose self-defined brand of "primal industrial blues" is a gloriously appropriate description of their sound. The bill is filled out by the Mactown Fam band, whose only description suggests that audience members can and should bring instruments and join the party. 9 p.m. Free.

Tedo Stone with Wrenn

SATURDAY AT THE HUMMINGBIRD STAGE AND TAPROOM

Local musician Floco Torres pointed out in a recent article that Tedo Stone "... aren't wearing Buddy Holly glasses or trying to sell you Vitamin Water. Tedo Stone is a rock 'n' roll band, or as close as we can get." Simply put, Tedo Stone played in Macon a few months back and we're glad they're returning. Opener Wrenn is a burgeoning peacock of indie pop, whose sound has been described as "Adele-lite meets McCartney's first solo album," and her live show is not to be missed. 10:30 p.m. $5.

Quincy Mumford and the Reason Why with the Vegabonds

THURSDAY AT THE HUMMINGBIRD STAGE AND TAPROOM

Quincy Mumford has done quite a bit in his 23 years of life. In the last six years that he's been living as a professional musician, he's played more than 600 shows and has released five albums of what award-winning producer Ken Coomer calls "raw '70s style rock and funk highlighted with the voice of an old soul." He'll be joined by the Vegabonds, who play music that's indebted to decades of Southern music from artists like the Black Crowes and the Allman Brothers Band. 10:30 p.m. Free.
