Experience the life of Buddy Holly with 'Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story' at the Grand Opera House
The story of the rapid rise to fame and too-brief career of early rock 'n' roll legend Buddy Holly comes to the Grand Opera House on Friday and Saturday in "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story."
Michael Perrie Jr. stars as Holly and the show includes favorite songs such as "Peggy Sue," "That'll be the Day," "Everyday" and "Oh Boy" as well as Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba" and the Big Bopper's "Chantilly Lace."
"Audiences dance in the aisles every night to our enactment of the story of a young man whose musical career spanned an all-too-brief period but whose music will be remembered forever," writer/producer Alan Janes said in a news release.
Now in its 25th year, the show began in London and has been performed more than 20,000 times worldwide.
"When we opened the show we never imagined Buddy's music and story would still be rocking stages and entertaining audiences around the world week-in, week-out over 25 years later. I believe this is testament to a great show -- the first of its kind -- and to the enduring appeal of Buddy Holly and what he represents; a youthful energy, huge talent and creativity, combined with a determination to make a lasting impression in this world," Holly's widow, Maria Elena Holly, said in the release.
