Mike's Hotdogs and Hamburgers in Warner Robins has been around for 25 years and is a mainstay for quick, cheap eats.

We came on a slow night, with only about four other tables occupied, but it took a while to get our order for five. Once we got it though, it was easy to see why the locals like it. The servings were generous, the prices were unbelievable, and most everything was solidly good.

Among the hotdogs, we chose the slaw dog. All the hotdogs are 100-percent beef and cost between $2.50 and $3. We opted not to add ketchup, mustard or onion or even cheese and found the hotdog to be delicious.

For future reference, order two or three if you want to make a meal of it. Other options include a kraut dog and a Carolina dog with chili and slaw.

We had to try their most famous item, the Gorilla Burger. We tried the single, 10-ounce version for $7.25 with bacon for an extra 55 cents. It was humongous, but if that's not big enough for you, try the double for $12.95. They have a slider version called the Monkey Bite for just $2.25, a 6-ounce junior Gorilla for $5.25, with a hoagie bun version called an Orangutan Burger as well. We also had the turkey burger for $5.25 and enjoyed it immensely.

We weren't too impressed by the gyro, which seemed more Mexican than Greek, with grilled peppers and fajita seasonings. For only $5.75 for the beef and lamb or chicken and $7.25 for the steak version, it's still worth trying.

The fries were good and the onion rings were great. We were too full to try the homemade slaw or chili cheese fries. They also have specialty dogs, like bratwurst, Italian sausage and a polish dog. We asked about the salads and were told that some people say they are the best in town.

We went with their classics but they also have a junior and regular hamburger steak dinner, a barbecue or grilled chicken dinner, or a chicken finger dinner, all between $8.50 and $10.50. Dinners include fries, slaw or baked beans, and Texas toast.

There's a kids menu that offers either a monkey burger, a grilled cheese, hotdog or corndog with a small fries and drink for just $4.30. There are no desserts, but I can't imagine ever needing one if you finish your dinner.

Mike's is solid and definitely a go-to for something fast and filling. If you live anywhere in the area and haven't tried it yet, don't wait another 25 years.
