Analog Existence with Bogo and the Story Continues

Friday at 5/4 Music Space

Bogo’s logo has a sea turtle in it and we don’t know why. Could it be a reference to Crush from “Finding Nemo?” Are these guys really into raising awareness of these majestic creatures? Did you know that sea turtles nest in areas along the coast of Georgia? Maybe one (or all) of these answers will appear as you pogo during the set of Bogo. The bill is filled out with Warner Vegas sonic experimenters Analog Existence and punk rock superstars the Story Continues. This bill is all local, all the time. All ages welcome. Doors at 7 p.m. $3.

Matt Pippin Duo

Friday at Billy’s Clubhouse

Matt Pippin has spent time as the lead guitarist for Jason Aldean and Rachel Farley, but now he’s taking the spotlight for himself. He’s a hometown country boy just like you, singing songs about hunting, fishing and tossing the football. Unlike you, he’s poised to be the next big thing in country music. Catch him at Billy’s before he gets big. 10 p.m. $5.

Stillwater Live

Friday at the Crazy Bull

Put your pants back on. This is NOT the band from the movie “Almost Famous.” (Spoiler alert: That is a movie, and as such, not real. The band in the movie and this band just have the same name.) Some of you may remember the actual band Stillwater from their time on Capricorn Records in the late 1970s, when they toured with the Atlanta Rhythm Section and the Charlie Daniels Band. That was very real, even if you’re having a hard time remembering it. 18 and older. Doors at 7 p.m. $20.

Cherry Blossom Street Party with George Clinton, Mavis Staples and more

Saturday at Cotton Avenue and Poplar Street

You see, the Funk is a living creature. It’s about the size of a medicine ball, but covered in teats. It came from another planet, and landed on Bootsy Collins’s house. Bootsy took one look at the creature and lost his mind. He began to milk the Funk, made himself a Funk shake and began to feel fizzy inside. He found he could see around corners. Suddenly, he passed out. But when he came to, he was slapping a bass guitar fast and loose like some kind of delirious, funky priest. George Clinton is bringing the creature to the Pinkest Party on Earth, accompanied by a host of other greats, including Mavis Staples, Chuck Leavell and J.D. McPherson. Gates at 3 p.m./Music starts at 4 p.m. $20 in advance. $25 day of.

Day Party with DJ Shawty Slim/After Dark Party with Rhett Squirrelly

Saturday at Roasted Cafe and Lounge

Ain’t no party like a Roasted Day Party cuz’ the Roasted Day Party just don’t stop. Well, I suppose it’ll have to stop at some point, but you get the point. When DJ Shawty Slim isn’t producing music with Floco Torres or touring the world performing his mixes, he occasionally gives Macon the gift of his talent, providing a soundtrack for an evening that is always full of surprises. He’s joined by Rhett Squirrelly, who decided he couldn’t resist the call of the mystical cherry blossom and promises to provide a soundtrack for the late bloomers of the festival. There will be coffee tastings early on and Mama Honey’s will be smoking that sweet meat all day and into the night. Day Party: 1-5 p.m./After Dark Party: 10 p.m.-1 a.m. Free admission.
