John Berry’s ‘O Holy Night’ concert returns to Grand
One of Middle Georgia’s beloved annual Christmas concerts, John Berry’s ‘O Holy Night’ tour returns Friday to the Grand Opera House.
The singer-songwriter will perform some of his hits, as well as traditional holiday music and songs from his new album, “Christmas,” which includes “My Heart Is Bethlehem,” Blue Christmas,” “Mary Did You Know?” and, of course, “O Holy Night.”
“If ‘O Holy Night’ is all that anyone remembers of me, that’s fine with me,” Berry said in a news release. “It is a truly inspired piece of music.”
Berry signed his first major label contract in 1992, became well-known two years later with “Your Love Amazes Me” and was nominated for a Grammy with 1995’s “Standing on the Edge of Goodbye.” In the ensuing two decades, he released a number of country music albums and entered the Christian-music genre in 2011.
This year, Berry had a song on the soundtrack of the film “I’m Not Ashamed,” about Columbine High School student Rachel Joy Scott, and celebrated the 20th anniversary of his first appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. His latest country album, “What I Love the Most,” was released in June.
