Sesame Street favorites teach lessons through music
Sesame Street Live will bring sunny days and happy music to the Macon Coliseum this weekend with three performances of “Elmo Makes Music.”
The show features classic characters such as Elmo, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch and Cookie Monster as they welcome a new music teacher, Jenny, to Sesame Street. When Jenny’s instruments are discovered to be missing, the Muppets find ways to make music with everyday objects like rubber duckies, trash can lids and cookie jars, according to a news release.
About two dozen songs, including “The Hustle,” “You Should Be Dancing” and “Rockin’ Robin” that parents will recognize, and “Elmo’s World” and “The Alphabet Song” from the television show, are used to teach kids and their families lessons about patience, acceptance and teamwork.
The 90-minute musical production includes one 15-minute intermission and Broadway-style choreography, scripts and special effects. Special Sunny Seats allow audience members to meet two Sesame Street Live characters, including Elmo, before the show.
