Guitarist Steve Vai’s “Passion and Warfare” 25th anniversary tour arrives Monday at the Cox Capitol Theatre.

Along with other songs from his more than 30-year career, Vai will perform the “Passion and Warfare” album from start to finish during the show.

“I was lucky and discovered that the pacing of the record is very nice for a live show. I am particularly concerned when putting a show together that it feels organized and has a dynamic equilibrium,” Vai said.

The remastered “Passion and Warfare” album includes four previously unreleased songs. Vai said his music has changed vastly over the years and still is changing.

“When you do something creatively, it’s a little snapshot of who you are at the time. The way we record now, digitally, is very different from the analog way we did then. Psychologically, I feel freer and freer every year to just do the type of music I want to do, and that’s a great place to be for an artist,” Vai said. “The thing that hasn’t changed is that when the excitement for an idea is compelling enough, I have to do it. That’s been the story of my career, and it’s a good one.”
