Macon Pops moves concerts to Mercer’s Hawkins Arena
Music from the big band era, hits of today and songs from points in between will be played at Macon Pops’ “Dancing Through the Decades 3” tonight at Mercer University’s Hawkins Arena.
The second concert of the Pops’ season will include the traditional Conga line led by Anita Hall as well as songs that will get the audience dancing in the Pops’ new venue.
“We are beyond excited to move our home to Hawkins Arena for the remaining three concerts,” Pops co-founder Steve Moretti said in a news release. “Being in that space will elevate our performances and add a whole new dimension to how we present our concerts. We have been fortunate with steady audience growth the last three seasons. Hawkins Arena will allow us the opportunity to continue expanding our audience.”
Macon Pops prides itself on shows tailor-made for local audiences.
“Our shows are tailored especially for our Macon Pops audiences,” co-founder Matt Catingub said in the release. “These ‘born in Macon’ shows are known for presenting quality orchestral concerts and performances, all within an exciting and innovative nightclub styled presentation. This is what Macon Pops is all about.”
