Nu Depth, Tann Jones and Randy Wesson’s Freak Out

Friday at Fresh Produce Records

The thing I like most about shows at Fresh Produce Records is the fact that they’re so unpredictable. Case in point: Last Friday, I went to see a band called the Joy Kills. I don’t know what happened, but they weren’t there. Instead, I saw a very good punk/hardcore band called Ganges Phalanges. They wouldn’t have been out of place on a Lookout! Records comp in 1989. The point is, no matter if you recognize the name on the bill (or not on the bill), a show at Fresh Produce is guaranteed to be an experience. This Friday, you’re even encouraged to join in. Seriously, bring your instruments. I don’t know who Randy is, but I’ll probably bring a stick and hit the wall with it. 9 p.m. $5.

Choir of Babble, One Horse Parade and the Howling Tongues

Friday at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom

Howling Tongues!? Sounds like you might need to go to the doctor, maybe get some penicillin. Maybe an exorcism is in order. Or maybe you just need to go see the Howling Tongues to cure what ails you. Good rock ‘n’ roll has the power to make anybody feel better. They’ll be joined by locals Choir of Babble, a band that “highlights the noise that surrounds you” and One Horse Parade, who alternate between atmospheric dance rock and shoegaze-y drone. 10 p.m. $5.

A Night to Imagine: John Lennon Tribute

Friday at the Cox Capitol Theatre

Imagine this: If John Lennon was still alive, he’d just be turning 76. If the latest reports from Oldchella are to be believed, he’d probably still be rocking at that age. Hey hey, my my. In celebration of what was and what could’ve been, Abbey Road Live is going to present a night of Lennon’s music at the Cox Capitol Theatre. But don’t just imagine the show. It’s actually happening. Unlike world peace, this is an attainable goal. You can make it part of your reality on Friday night. Doors: 7 p.m./Show: 8 p.m. $12-$15.

Helen of Coi, Balcony View, Flusnoix and Visitation

Saturday at Fresh Produce Records

Puns are fun. So is Helen of Coi. She’s bringing her microKorg all the way from Birmingham, Alabama, for a night of sweetly psychedelic synth pop. Also on the bill will be drone cadets Balcony View. Visitation, from Athens, sounds like Brian Ferry making love to a tape machine. Flusnoix plays lovely, improvisational “relaxing natural music.” If you’re part of the minority of people in Macon who don’t get off on Southern rock or Americana, this is a must-see. 9 p.m. $5.

Living Room Concert Series with Floco Torres and Famey

Sunday at the Cox Capitol Theatre

The Living Room Concert Series, presented by the Field Note Stenographers, is a new take on the live music experience at the Cox Capitol Theatre. Instead of putting bands onstage and separating them from the audience, performances will take place in the spaces normally reserved for standing-room guests, creating an intimate atmosphere reminiscent of a house show. The goal is to put the music first and foremost to create connections between audience and artist. The third show in the series features local hero Floco Torres. Word on the street is that he’s got some special tricks up his sleeve. He’s also bringing his buddy Famey from New Jersey, one of his earliest collaborators and co-writer of “Hot Like the Sun.” Doors: 7 p.m./Show: 8 p.m. $10-$15.
