Cherry Blossom Festival newbies: In search of cherry ice cream
Editor’s note: Caitlyn Stroh and Stephen Mays are both newbies to The Telegraph as well as newbies to the Cherry Blossom Festival. They’re going out into the festivities this week and giving us a firsthand account of their CBF experience.
I don't often enjoy a Monday more than its preceding weekend. But today was the best day of the Cherry Blossom Festival I've been to yet.
Caitlyn tackled the rainy weekend activities, leaving today's sunny, cherry ice cream-filled adventure to me.
Success! I've tasted the fabled cherry ice cream and it is delicious. pic.twitter.com/zdcmfqrgRJ

The event kicked off at 11:30 a.m., and I expected to find myself at the tail end of a mile-long line when I showed up at 12:30 p.m.
The line was long, yes, but I didn't wait longer than 20 minutes before a volunteer walking down the line handed me a cone.

I've always been a vanilla advocate when it comes to ice cream. It's simple, sweet and easy to dress up. But that cherry, though.
I may or may not have a new favorite.
Pancake breakfasts are fun and all, but I'll take a noontime ice cream cone on a sunny afternoon any day of the week.
