Cherry Blossom Festival best bets for Tuesday
Award-winning Christian rock group Jars of Clay tops Tuesday's Cherry Blossom Festival Best Bets. The group will be performing at 7 p.m. at the Cox Capitol Theater. Tickets, which range from $15 to $30, are still available. For a full Cherry Blossom Festival calendar, click here.
1.) Third Street Park Festivities: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Third Street Park, along Third Street. Free ice cream and refreshments while supplies last. Live entertainment and carriage rides. Featured nation: United Kingdom. Free.
2.) Stories and More: Author’s Luncheon: 11:30 a.m., Idle Hour Country Club, 251 Idle Hour Drive. Lunch with renown authors Mary Kay Andrews, Nancy Brandon, Ed Grisamore and Martha Tate. $38 per person.
3.) Animal Show: Road Kill Live with Jason Clark/Southeastern Reptile Rescue: Noon, 4 p.m., 7 p.m., Central City Park, Willie Smokey Glover Drive. This live animal show presented by Snakes R Us features tortoises, possums and more. Free.
4.) Cherry Blossom Organ Concert: Noon-12:30 p.m., Mulberry Street United Methodist, 719 Mulberry St. Enjoy 30-minute recitals by talented local organists. Free.
5.) Museum of Arts and Sciences Live Animal Show: 12:30-1 p.m., Coca-Cola Entertainment Stage, Central City Park, Willie Smokey Glover Drive. Meet the animals from the Museum of Arts and Sciences. Free.
6.) Cherry Blossom Tea: 3-4:30 p.m., American Red Cross Historic House, 195 Holt Ave. Join the Mentor’s Project proteges as they are introduced to guests from around the world. Free.
7.) Hollywood Band: 6-9 p.m., Coca-Cola Entertainment Stage, Central City Park, Willie Smokey Glover Drive. R&B, beach and dance music. Free.
8.) Bingo: 7 p.m. the American Legion, 5530 Thomaston Road. $10 per card of six games.
9.) Jars of Clay Concert: 7 p.m., Cox Capitol Theatre, 382 Second St. Christian rock music. $15-$30.
10.) Patriotic Concert: 7:30 p.m., Porter Auditorium, Wesleyan College, 4760 Forsyth Road. A variety of music to honor the Armed Forces presented by the Middle Georgia Concert Band. $10; free with 2014 pin.
