Cherry Blossom Festival best bets for Saturday

There are so many options of things to do Saturday that it can be a little daunting. Here are a dozen highlights. For a full festival calendar, click here.

1.) Pink Pancake Breakfast: 7-10 a.m., Central City Park, Willie Smokey Glover Drive. Presented by the Macon-Bibb Fire Department. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. $5.

2.) Master Gardeners of Central Ga. Spring Plant Sale: 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Macon State Farmer’s Market, 2055 Eisenhower Parkway. MGCG offers a variety of Master Gardener grown plants, trees and shrubs. Proceeds support scholarships, grants and educational programs throughout Middle Georgia. Free admission.

3.) Pull for the Ronald McDonald House: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Cherry Street Plaza, 301 Cherry St. Team compete to see who can pull a 60,000-pound truck in the fastest time. Supports Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia. Free.

4.) Central Georgia’s Strongest Man Competition: 10 a.m., Central City Park, Willie Smokey Glover Drive. Strongmen from across the U.S. battle it out in a competition of pure brutal strength events. Free.

5.) Pink-a-Doodle Children’s Sidewalk Chalk: 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Third Street Park, along Third Street. Kids can create sidewalk chalk art. Free.

6.) Dixie Disc Dogs Championships: 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Central City Park, Willie Smokey Glover Drive. Watch premier Frisbee dogs from around the country compete for the championship title. Free.

7.) Nu-Way Hotdog Eating Contest: 11:30 a.m.-noon, Coca-Cola Entertainment Stage, Central City Park, Willie Smokey Glover Drive. Compete in two categories: children 6-12; adults 13 and older. Free.

8.) Cherry Blossom Bed Race: 1 p.m., Cherry Street. Watch teams race beds on wheels down the street to compete for the fastest time. Free.

9.) High Heels for the Cure Fun Run: 2 p.m., Cherry Street. Immediately following the Bed Race, men, women and kids run in high heels through downtown to raise money for breast cancer research. $10 to run; free to watch.

10.) Macon-Bibb Firefighters Competition: 3 p.m., Third Street Park, along Third Street. See their skill, agility and teamwork live. Free.

11.) Pink Extravaganza Fashion Show: 7 p.m., Macon Coliseum, 200 Coliseum Drive. A fashion gala presented by the Diamond Foundation benefits four local charities and features Miss Georgia Teen and Miss Georgia USA. $10-$20.

12.) McDuffie’s Greatest Hits: 7:30 p.m. Fickling Hall, McCorkle Music Building, Mercer University, 1400 Coleman Ave. Robert McDuffie gives back to his hometown in a concert featuring Amy Schwartz Moretti and the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings Ensemble performing their favorite works. Free.=
