Filming in downtown Macon will disrupt traffic. What to know about closures
Parts of Cherry Street will be closed this week while a production company films a movie in downtown Macon, according to Macon-Bibb County officials.
S&K Pictures, Inc. started filming preparations around Fifth Street and Historic Terminal Station in June. Filming will take place until July 10, and crews are expected in the area until July 17.
Officials did not provide the name of the movie or further information about the film.
From July 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Cherry Street and the northside sidewalk between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Fifth Street will be closed, Macon-Bibb’s news release said.
Once filming has concluded, crews will strike equipment around Fifth Street and Historic Terminal Station from July 13-17.
Until July 15, the following areas will be closed:
- Westside parking lane between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Poplar Street
- Eastside parking lane between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and the north driveway entrance of Terminal Station
- East sidewalk closure directly in front of Terminal Station entrance.
“During this time, anyone driving in the area of Fifth Street and the Historic Terminal Station should drive carefully and remain aware of people working,” county officials said.
There will not be any impediment to the bus shelter area, officials said.
“It’s a great day in Macon-Bibb when our beautiful community will be featured on the big screen,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “I’m especially excited for the length of time crews will be here, getting to enjoy the hospitality and welcoming nature of our Downtown.”
