Staind to Celebrate ‘Break the Cycle' With 25th Anniversary Edition

It’s been a while since Staind first released their “Break the Cycle” album. See what we did there with the song reference? In any case, it’s been 25 years, and now, Aaron Lewis, Mike Mushok and company are celebrating that milestone.

Now, Staind has announced a new live set honoring the 25th anniversary of the group’s seminal 2001 album. The collection features live recordings of each of the 13 songs from the original track list, to make it extra special. It’ll arrive on Aug. 21.

The band also released a video for the live version of the single “It’s Been Awhile” on YouTube.

“Break the Cycle” was a massive hit for Staind. It marked the band’s third album and breaking set, spawning the hit singles “It’s Been Awhile,” “Outside,” “Outside,” “For You,” “Epiphany” and “Fade.” Any good Xennial has heard these songs hundreds of times, if not more. “Break the Cycle” has also been certified five-times Platinum by the RIAA.

“I’m going to tell you the one thing that stands out the most is, and this is dumb, but just that first week and the phone call saying that we had sold 716,000 records in a week,” he said in the interview. “That was like, how does that even happen?”

He also said that it was cool to see the band’s years of work pay off, adding it was a thrill to “really see the progress of what we were doing and the hard work we put in.”
