Neon to distribute 'Parasite' director Bong Joon-ho's movie 'Ally'
April 28 (UPI) -- Neon will reunite with Bong Joon-ho to distribute the Parasite director's first animated film.
Deadline reported Tuesday that Neon has acquired the North American rights to the movie, titled Ally.
Variety said the film, directed and co-written by Bong, is expected to open in theaters in 2027.
Ally, described as a "family adventure blending humor and emotion," follows a curious piglet squid of the same name. The creature's home in the South Pacific Ocean is endangered when a mysterious aircraft sinks into the waters.
Bong previously brought creatures to life in the live-action monster movie The Host and in Okja, a live-action sci-fi film about a girl trying to save a genetically modified "super pig."
His 2019 movie Parasite was the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, and took home three other Oscars, including Best Director for Bong.
