Laura Dern to replace Helena Bonham Carter in 'White Lotus' Season 4
April 28 (UPI) --Laura Dern is joining the cast of The White Lotus Season 4.
Deadline reported Tuesday that Dern will replace Helena Bonham Carter in the new season following Carter's exit from the HBO series last week.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Dern's casting.
Dern will play a new character rather than taking over Carter's role, according to Variety.
News broke Friday that Carter was leaving White Lotus after it became apparent her character "did not align once on set."
Season 4 recently began filming in France and is set against the backdrop of the annual Cannes Film Festival.
Other cast members include Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Ari Graynor, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, Kumail Nanjiani, Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet.
The White Lotus is created, written, directed and executive produced by Mike White, who previously worked with Dern on the HBO series Enlightened and the 2007 film Year of the Dog.
Dern's other HBO credits include hit series Big Little Lies.
