Mick Jagger Almost Died of a Heroin Overdose, Says New Rolling Stones Biography

Mick Jagger nearly died of a heroin overdose back in 1976, according to a new biography of the Rolling Stones.

Jagger, 82, is spoken about at length in The Rolling Stones: The Biography, the new book by Bob Spitz. Inside, former Rolling Stones Records president Marshall Chess claims he had to resuscitate Jagger at his apartment in 1976 after the two shared one gram of heroin, PEOPLE reported. After visiting a "Buddhist heroin dealer," Jagger collapsed on the floor.

"His lips were turning blue. I didn't know what else to do. I was freaked," Chess wrote. "Mick Jagger's gonna die in my f-----g apartment!"

Actress Faye Dunawayarrived shortly after, and Chess gave Jagger CPR. After calling for an ambulance, Dunaway helped them secure a private hotel room at the hospital away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.

Who is Mick Jagger's Fiancée?

Decades later, Jagger is living a more peaceful life. The singer has found happiness these days with his fiancée, Melanie Hamrick. Jagger and Hamrick are parents to a 9-year-old son, Deveraux. For Jagger's birthday last year, Hamrick shared a sweet photo of her two men alongside each other sporting bunny ears. (Swipe to the third photo in the slide to see the shot.)

"Happy Birthday!!!!🎊 ❤️🥳," Hamrick captioned the three shots, which started with a photo of her alongside Jagger looking dapper in formal wear. In the second slide, the couple posed for the camera outside on what looked like a restaurant patio. But it was the third shot, which featured the adorable Deveraux mugging for the camera alongside his smiling dad, that made waves on social media.

Do Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick Plan on Getting Married?

While Jagger and Hamrick are engaged, they seem to have no official plans to get married.

Hamrick made it clear that the couple has no serious plans, but that doesn't mean they may not pursue it in the future.

"We've been engaged two or three years," Hamrick told Paris Match, a French publication, last year. "Maybe one day we'll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything."

Hamrick continued by saying that what's most important to the couple is that they're there for each other no matter what. A retired ballerina and author, Hamrick has also always responded playfully when asked about her age gap with Jagger in the past.

"He's younger than me," Hamrick told Page Six, taking it in stride. "He's amazing, really is."
