New Poll Reveals California As the Best State For Food in the U.S.
if you were to ask 10 people which state they thought had the best food in the U.S., you'd likely have around 10 different answers.
While some people might readily assume the endless variety of New York might make it the suitable choice for the best state for food within the country, a new poll has recently pointed to California as having the greatest culinary offerings in the U.S.
As per a recent study by HelloFresh, the Golden State rounded out the top of the list for the best food states in the nation. As part of the study, the organization polled 5,000 Americans to gather their thoughts on the country's current culinary landscape.
In their findings, HelloFresh highlighted California as the highest rate answer, along with New York, Texas, Louisiana and Florida following close behind.
In contrast, those same survey answers pointed to several U.S. states which left data participants woefully unimpressed, including Delaware, Indiana, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Additional research showed that, above any other participants, pollsters from Louisiana felt the most confident about their current culinary standing in the U.S., with 94% of Louisianan participants believing their state had the best food.
Above all else, HelloFresh's research showed that California tended to be associated with three different food specialities, including Mexican food, burgers and shrimp tacos.
New York, meanwhile, tended to be associated with bagels and cream cheese and pizza; Texas with Tex Mex and barbecue; Louisiana with crawfish, Cajun cuisine and gumbo; and Florida with seafood, key lime pie and fresh-squeeze orange juice.
"Food has always been about more than just sustenance – it's how we connect, share stories and pass down traditions," said Michelle Doll Olson, Senior Manager, Culinary Development for HelloFresh US. "From California shrimp tacos and Minnesota Juicy Lucy, to Louisiana gumbo and New York bagels, the dishes that define each state carry generations. of family memories and cultural pride."
