Researchers sniff out Georgia’s favorite smell. Hint: It’s not peach.

While many Georgians like the smell of perfume, they actually love the smell of something else more.

A recent study by BetGeorgia used Google search data to find the most beloved scents in the Peach State.

Any guesses at which aroma is the number one choice for Georgians?

Well, it is none other than … Gasoline.

That’s right. There were 7,440 searches for ‘smell of gasoline’ throughout the state since last April.

Here are the other most loved smells, based on Google searches in the state:

• In second place: coffee

• Third: cinnamon

• Fourth: a new car

• Fifth: chocolate

• Sixth: vanilla

• Seventh: nail polish

• Eighth: Christmas trees

• Ninth: log fires

• Tenth: bacon
