One of Macon’s largest events won’t be held this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic
One of Macon’s largest events of the year has been canceled due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
Bragg Jam’s Board of Directors decided to cancel the 2020 Concert Crawl and Arts & Kids Fest because of the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a Facebook post.
“This difficult and necessary decision was not made lightly, but ultimately, the health and safety of all our attendees is too important and Bragg Jam’s responsibility to this community is too great,” read the post.
The board believed the structure of the music festival did not allow for adequate safety measures to be followed.
“Bringing people together to celebrate live music is what drives Bragg Jam, but for the time being we must pause to let our city heal. Rest assured, when the time is right, we will be back larger and louder than ever!” read the post.
Bragg Jam began in 1999 after Brax and Tate Bragg tragically lost their lives July 3 in a car accident while on a road trip. Russel Walker organized the first Bragg Jam, which was an impromptu jam session with local musicians, as a way to honor the brothers, and it later grew to a citywide event.
The next Bragg Jam Concert Crawl will take place July 30-31, 2021, according to the post.
