Remember when Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’ secretly filmed in Macon? The trailer is here.

The trailer for the upcoming Marvel Studios movie “Black Widow,” starring Scarlett Johansson, was recently released.

The film is due in theaters May 1.

Parts of it were shot in downtown Macon in early October.

The city’s public transportation hub at Terminal Station, Macon’s historic train depot, was temporarily moved to accommodate production at the foot of Cherry Street along Fifth Street.

Much of the movie was filmed in Europe, but as the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported last fall, some parts were made in Georgia — here and outside Atlanta in Rome.

Marvel regularly does reshoots after main production is over, and financially, it make sense to do so stateside rather than return to Europe with the Georgia tax credits as additional incentive,” the AJC reported.

The entertainment website SouthernThing.com noted that filming here “included mostly ‘pickup’ scenes, which are done after general filming has wrapped to augment the story.”

None of the clips from the trailer appear to include Macon-shot footage.

One scene about 30 seconds in does show what looks like a European train station, and Macon’s Terminal Station could have been used by filmmakers as a stand-in for it.

When the few days of filming began here, the movie’s title and what it was about was something of a secret.

Producers referred to it by the code name “Blue Bayou.”

Officials in a statement at the time referred to it only as a “major motion picture.”
