Rapper Ludacris is scheduled to perform at 3:45 p.m. at Saturday's G-Day spring game.

There will be a musical act at G-Day after all.

Two days after Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said they were unable to land a pre-game musician, the program announced that rapper Ludacris will perform for the Sanford Stadium crowd at 3:45 p.m.

It's a sudden change of events after it seemed the only pre-game entertainment Georgia would have was to roll out a hype video before the team takes the field.

The opportunity to land Ludacris came about Wednesday, a day after McGarity said there wouldn't be a pre-game musical act. Ludacris' representation reached out to Georgia about performing as the pre-game entertainment.

"During the process over the last couple months, we developed a network within the music industry," Georgia said in a statement. "As you know, earlier this week, it appeared nothing had materialized that would be workable for G-Day. This opportunity with Ludacris just arose Wednesday and we were of course immediately interested and moved quickly to finalize details. It’s an opportunity have a Georgia fan, world class entertainer, and who wants to be a part of our G-Day festivities.  So everyone here is of course excited and hopefully the fans will be as well."

Ludacris is an Atlanta-based rapper who first became a mainstream artist after his major-label debut Back For The First Time was released in 2000, led by the singles "What's Your Fantasy?" and "Southern Hospitality."

Ludacris has also recorded seven Billboard Top 10 singles, with "Stand Up" and "Money Maker" both hitting No. 1.
