Ray Goff is getting into politics.

Well, sort of.

Goff himself isn't running for office. But the former Georgia head football coach is listed as the chairperson for Jay Florence's commissioner of insurance campaign. Florence is seeking election to the position that has been held by Ralph Hudgens.

On Monday, Hudgens announced he will not seek re-election in 2018.

Florence is the deputy commissioner at the Georgia Department of Insurance.

Goff was a Georgia quarterback from 1974-76 and later became an assistant coach on Vince Dooley's staff. Goff became Georgia's head coach in 1989 and held the position until he was fired following the 1995 season.

As Georgia's head coach, Goff compiled a 46-34-1 record.
