Southern receiver sustains spinal injury against Georgia
A Southern football player suffered a spinal injury during Georgia's 48-6 win on Saturday.
Sophomore receiver Devon Gales was injured during the second half on a kickoff return. Gales was motionless for about 10 minutes on the football field as Georgia and Southern's training staffs tended to him.
Gales was eventually placed on a stretcher and carted off the field. Gales was admitted to Athens Regional Medical Center, Southern announced in a statement.
The Jaguars requested for "continued prayers for Devon and the entire Gales family during this difficult time."
Gales, 5-9 and 158 pounds, is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
