No to all things Obama

Incredibly, after a massive defeat in the November election that President Obama claimed was a referendum on all his policies, the president doubled down on furthering those policies through executive orders, while an inexplicably timid GOP House approved an omnibus budget passed by the defeated Democrats. Then, to heighten the absurdity, the new Majority leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, assured the American public that the new Republican majority in Congress wouldn’t pass any “scary” legislation. It was obvious he meant “scary” in the sense of “substantial,” as if the people’s vote in the last election had said, “Just nibble around the edges of Obama’s policies -- if we had wanted you to do anything serious, we would have given you a lopsided victory.” Oh wait, they did.

Newsflash to the new Congress: You want scary? Here’s a brief sample of what has scared Americans into voting a resounding “no” to all things Obama:

Military families being warned by the government not to mention their military connection on social media because ISIS has threatened to “track down and slaughter the families of the U.S. military.” Meanwhile, the president is still barely able to get the word ‘terrorism” out of his mouth after every jihadist attack.

A massive health care law that has blown up the cost of health care for 97 percent of 320,000,000 Americans in order to sign up a paltry 9,000,000 to Obamacare. And many of the sign-ups were thrown off their private plans by, you guessed it, Obamacare.

Five million illegals unlawfully given amnesty by the president. And immigration workers predict those numbers will almost certainly swell to 10 million when fraudulent paperwork emerges claiming residence over 10 months. The president has already quickly moved to issue the illegals green cards, Social Security cards and driver’s licenses and is unconcerned that these millions of non-citizens will certainly hurt poor Americans by offering to work for less pay.

And a final personal anecdote concerning a physician friend in Macon who called the White House to complain about Obamacare and was almost instantly audited by the IRS. He came out clean as a whistle and then the IRS immediately audited him again and this time “discovered” he had “undervalued” his parking lot and owed $20,000 in taxes.

And this just scratches the surface of the many Obama policies that were soundly rejected by the voters in November. The new Congress should have gotten the message that all vigorous legislation to stop this president’s agenda will be met with thankfulness, not terror.

Religion of submission

The gates of Hell opened in Paris this week when journalists were murdered by disciples of Satan. Surely, that must be the case. No divine deity would possibly condone killing of innocent human beings, therefore we must assume this is the work of the devil. His minions even screamed his name as they killed people who only had one fault -- they did not agree with the religion of Satan.

Islam has only one goal, worldwide domination under the cruel, barbaric and insane mullahs who have fostered this fifth century behavior worldwide. Even the name of this so-called religion is meaningful. It means submission, not freedom. Their goals are freely stated in their field manual called the quran (lower case deliberate), convert to Islam or die. I would rather die standing up as a Christian than live kneeling to the so-called religion of Satan. When the devil comes down to Georgia, he won’t bring a banjo to duel. He will bring death and destruction. And, some of us Christians will be waiting here for him to die standing up if necessary

‘Shakedown’

The Telegraph’s Jan. 7 article “Money from Bibb gambling raid may buy body cameras for deputies,” should have been titled “Shakedown of local business by Bibb County attorney’s office is successful” I don’t know how you can interpret the sequence of events any other way:

1. Bibb raids local business on suspicion of criminal activity

2. Local business ‘cooperates’ with Bibb and $175,000 changes hands

3. Bibb drops criminal charges.

On a personal note, I am upset with Bibb County District Attorney David Cooke for no longer allowing these businesses to have gambling machines. Where am I to get my quick pick lottery tickets at now?

Timing

Well, Macon has had another murder. This of course is not very surprising. It is a little noteworthy because it is the first murder of the year. What is surprising or rather shocking is the statement by the sheriff. His direct quote is, “It’s disappointing. I was hoping we could make it a little further into the year before we had our first homicide.”

I am appalled. This is beyond incredulous. It begs the question: How far should we be into the new year before the first homicide will not be disappointing to the chief law enforcement officer in the county? I have seen the sheriff on TV several times, his demeanor and body language display an amazing amount of arrogance. One can easily see that he just thinks he is “the baddest dude around.” His attitude suggests that he is so cocky that he is out of touch with the realities of crime in Macon.

I would ask that he try to do his job a little better and quit grandstanding. Anyone can see that, so far, he are doing a poor job of reducing crime in the city. I have a suggestion for him: How about trying to have zero homicides instead of worrying about how soon into the new year it is before we have our first?

Rewrite?

It would take a top Hollywood screenwriter to come up with a script this ironic: With all the blight, urban decay and decrepit housing to pick from, a big shot director insists on blowing up a downtown business district. Result: The city is overjoyed and begs for more.
