Moody withdraws from Bibb school board race

Bibb County school board President Lester Miller won't have opposition next month after all.

His opponent, Jeff Moody, pulled out of the race for Miller's District 4 seat officially on Tuesday.

"Jeff Moody has withdrawn from that District 4, board of education race," elections officer Tom Gillon confirmed Thursday.

That leaves three contested school board races in Bibb County, which are nonpartisan races. In District 2, incumbent Thelma Dillard is facing Tina Dennard, while incumbent Jason Downey, the board's vice president, is being opposed by Bob Easter and Valerie Wynn. James Timley, Jerome Collins and Sundra Woodford are all vying for the District 5 seat previously held by Tom Hudson, who has reached his term limit.

Miller now joins Ella Carter and Sue Sipe in running unopposed on the board.
