Area students earn entrepreneur awards for their small business efforts

▪  Luke Kolbie, a graduate of Charis Academy in Dublin, has won a $2,000 Youth Entrepreneur Award from the National Federation of Independent Businesses and the Georgia Leadership Council. The scholarship program recognizes high school students who own small businesses, and Kolbie owns Kingfisher Leatherworks.

▪  Houston County High School graduate Hannah Kipper and Mount de Sales Academy graduate Kellie White were awarded $1,000 college scholarships from Spillers Orthodontics in Warner Robins. Kipper is attending Georgia Southern University this fall, and White is going to University of Georgia.

▪  Alexis Simmons, a Northside High School graduate, was among 136 students in eight states chosen for LaGrange College’s Presidential Scholarship weekend program earlier this year. She received a $1,000 award.
