Northside Elementary named STEM award finalist

Northside Elementary School’s STEM program has put it in the running for a statewide award. The Houston County school is a finalist in the STEM Education Awards in the STEM Certified School Outreach Category. Winners will be revealed Nov. 4.

Northside’s “STEM: Our Journey to Success” teaches students about problem solving, collaborative thinking, communication, research reading, writing and data collection. The program includes coding, robotics, rocket launches, engineering design challenges, job fairs, Science Nights for parents and the first Houston County Elementary Science Olympiad Team.
