Cop Shop: Dog kills chicken, woman opens fire

Ever since a west Bibb County man moved to a house off Hunnicutt Road near Central State Prison, he said his dogs have been blamed “for everything.”

It seems that when he first arrived, one of the dogs killed a neighbor’s dog.

In late November, the man, 32, reported an incident that involved his 10-year-old son. The boy went into some nearby woods to shoot squirrels with a pellet gun.

“He came running home and said that dogs were chasing him and he saw the neighbor shoot at them with a shotgun,” a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy’s write-up noted. “He stated that he felt something hit his right leg which he believed was a pellet from the shotgun.”

There was a red mark on the boy’s leg. The boy’s father said he spoke to the neighbor, a woman, who said one of the man’s dogs had killed one of her chickens, the incident report said.

“When asked about the gunshot hitting the child, she stated that she shot in the air.”

The woman wasn’t home when the deputy got there. The report doesn’t say what happened after that.
