Two teens found shot to death at Twiggs County school

Two people were found shot to death in a vehicle in Twiggs County early Wednesday, according to the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office.

About 7:50 a.m., two employees of the county’s public school system called authorities to report a small, white vehicle on school property with a gunshot victim inside, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The bodies were found at the middle-high school complex.

A deputy found one male and one female victim fatally shot in the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Alexia D. Jackson, 19, of Bibb County and Knickolus B. Jones, 18, of Twiggs County both had gunshot wounds to various parts of their bodies.

After deputies secured the scene, Sheriff Darren Mitchum asked the GBI to assist with the investigation.

Video surveillance from the school showed the vehicle arriving at the complex about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday with the teens inside, officials said.

“The last time anybody saw them was around 10 o’clock last night,” Twiggs County Coroner Harold Reece said Wednesday.

Mitchum said none of the cameras captured what happened.

“We can just see a vehicle coming in at a certain time last night and parking where that car was found,” he said.

Reece said the incident may be a murder-suicide and that investigators are looking into that possibility. An autopsy will be performed Thursday, the coroner said. Officials said they do not yet have a motive for the killings.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with the GBI and the Twiggs County Board of Education Police Department on the investigation.
