Death of decomposed woman found in Macon ruled homicide
Bibb County sheriff’s investigators don’t know who she is but have determined the woman whose remains were found last week was a homicide victim who suffered gunshot wounds.
Just after 2 p.m. on May 12, someone checking for illegal dumping discovered an unrecognizable, badly decomposed body on an empty, 14-acre lot in the 1900 block of Feagin Road.
An autopsy revealed the woman was shot at least once in her head, said Bibb County Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.
Although investigators did not initially know the sex of the victim, information received from the GBI crime lab on May 18 indicates the body is that of a black or biracial female.
Miley said dental records could lead to the identity of the victim.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME, which is 877-682-7463.
