One dead after SWAT standoff in Dooly County
A Dooly County resident was shot and killed in a multi-agency SWAT standoff in Vienna on Friday, according to a GBI news release.
A domestic disturbance that began early Friday in the 600 block of Nelsons Corner Road resulted in the standoff, which escalated to a barricaded gunman situation about 8:30 a.m., the release said.
SWAT teams from Crisp, Turner and Tift counties worked to negotiate with the Vienna man, who was armed. Gunfire was exchanged between the SWAT teams and the gunman, according to the release.
The deceased's name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
No officers were injured during the incident, and the GBI will continue investigating to determine what happened.
