The mother of a 4-month old infant who died in 2014 was arrested Monday morning and charged with felony murder.

Kawanna Janesa Oliver, 25, was picked up by the Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and also charged with cruelty to children in the first degree, said Lt. Randy Gonzalez of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

The baby, Andrea Oliver, was found unresponsive April 7, 2014 at Oliver's home at 847 Newberg Ave. and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office has been investigating the baby's death for nearly two years before an arrest warrant was issued, Gonzalez said.

The March 25 warrant states the baby was born prematurely on Nov. 22, 2013 and remained hospitalized until March 3, 2014 when her mother brought her home.

An autopsy ruled the girl's death a homicide and the alleged neglect led to the cruelty to children charge, the warrant stated.

Oliver is accused of depriving her daughter "necessary sustenance."

A Bibb County Sheriff's Office report noted the infant "appeared to be emaciated" and had an odor of "decomposition."

Andrea required formula every three hours through a feeding tube after her birth at 29 weeks, the report stated.

The autopsy also showed the baby suffered a fracture in her right upper arm.

Oliver is being held without bond in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
