Man charged in Jibri Bryan shooting released from hospital, sent to jail

One of the men charged in the shooting death of Mercer University basketball player Jibri Bryan was released from the Medical Center, Navicent Health, and booked into the Bibb County jail Saturday night.

Jarvis Clinton Miller, 24, charged with felony murder, was denied bond Monday at his first appearance in Bibb Magistrate Court, authorities said.

Bryan was shot in the head Tuesday, Feb. 2, while sitting in his Chevrolet Monte Carlo in a parking spot at the Flash Foods on the corner of Forsyth and College streets. His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church in Savannah.

Miller was also shot and later found by a Bibb sheriff's deputy on Orange Street, near the scene, after the shooting. He ran away after sustaining "multiple gunshot wounds," according to his arrest warrant.

He was caught nearby when he was spotted "wearing clothing matching the description given by witnesses who observed him carrying a handgun away from the crime scene," the warrant noted.

Damion Deray Henderson, the other man charged in Bryan's shooting death, made his first appearance in court Saturday. Henderson, 34, has also been charged with felony murder. He is thought to be the one who fired the shots that wounded his alleged accomplice, Miller, investigators said.

As The Telegraph has previously reported, Henderson, according to an arrest warrant made public Monday, was thought to have borrowed a car he allegedly drove to and away from the crime scene.

The owner of the 2012 Nissan Sentra loaned it to Henderson about an hour before the slaying, the warrant said.

The car belongs to a west Macon woman whose daughter told the newspaper last week that Henderson was her mother's boyfriend.

"Henderson picked up co-defendant Jarvis Miller ... minutes before the shooting," the warrant said.

Miller lives on Orange Terrace, a few blocks from the Flash Foods, where the Nissan was later ditched.

The investigation of the shooting is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500, or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
