Third arrest made in Macon killing of sheriff's office employee

A third arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of Bibb County Sheriff's Office employee Vernard Mays.

Jadarien Shamar Flowers, 19, was arrested about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Riverside Gardens Apartment Complex located at 575 Baxter Ave., based on a Crimestoppers tip. He was charged with murder and a probation violation and is being held at the Bibb County jail.

Mays, 23, died at the Medical Center, Navicent Health, after being shot in the groin on Oct. 27 at his Second Street home.

Michael Dewayne Hardy Jr., 19, and Drayson MacDonald, 16, previously were arrested on felony murder charges in connection with the shooting.
