A man was charged with murder Tuesday in connection with a shooting last week in Macon.

Shavez Flewellen, 23, of Macon, turned himself in at the Bibb County Sheriff's Office about 1 p.m., according to a sheriff's office news release.

He is charged in the death of Jarvis West, 23, on Thursday. West was shot multiple times at Pine Ridge Apartments at 1960 Clinton Road.

Flewellen was spotted earlier in the day Tuesday after Bibb deputies and members of the U.S. Marshal's Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force went to Madden Avenue to look for him. He saw them and fled on foot, the release said, but a short time later turned himself in.

Flewellen has a Moore Court address, which is at the end of Madden Avenue.

He is charged with murder, aggravated assault and a probation violation.

Authorities have not released a motive in the shooting.

West was shot once in the chest and twice in the abdomen, according to a sheriff's report.
