Eastman insurance agent arrested, charged with fraud

An insurance agent who owned and operated Charles Robinson Insurance Agency in Eastman was arrested this week and charged with 10 counts of insurance fraud.

Macie Anedra Yawn, 27, of Cochran, was arrested by Bleckley County law enforcement officers Tuesday, according to a news release from Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens. Yawn is accused of pocketing premium payments on numerous occasions. It is unclear if more individual customers were affected, according to the news release.

“Alleged actions like Ms. Yawn’s not only damaged the trust consumers placed in her as an insurance agent, but also make everyone’s insurance premiums go up,” Hudgens said in the news release. “Insurance fraud is a felony that carries a penalty of two to 10 years in prison, a fine up to $10,000, or, potentially, both.”

People who suspect Yawn may have defrauded them are asked to call the Georgia Department of Insurance at 404-656-2070 or 800-656-2298.
