No charges in shooting death of Macon armed robbery suspect
A 20-year-old Macon man died late Sunday night after he and an accomplice were allegedly trying to rob three other men.
Migel Andre Diadell was shot three times as he pulled a gun on a man behind an east Macon auto parts store, a release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said.
He was lying on the ground at the back of the O'Reilly Auto Parts store at 928 Gray Highway when deputies arrived about 11 p.m. Sunday.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said Diadell, of Fairway Drive, was pronounced dead at the Medical Center, Navicent Health, at 11:35 p.m.
Overnight, witnesses to the shooting told investigators that two teens had been unloading equipment from a trailer into a building next to the automotive store.
Diadell, who had a gun, and an unknown man demanded money from the teens.
The robbers got into the teens' truck and forced them to drive to a bank to get money with their company credit card, the release said.
When they were not able to withdraw cash, Diadell and the other man forced them to lie down on the ground before making them get back in the truck and return to the storage building on Gray Highway.
The robbers forced one of the teens to call his boss and demand that he bring money to the building.
When 34-year-old Brian Hinkle arrived to see about his workers, one of the teens went to meet him as Diadell got out of the truck.
Diadell started running toward them and allegedly fired toward Hinkle, who had his own gun and fired back, hitting Diadell.
According to Bibb County Court records, Diadell was serving two years on probation after pleading guilty April 9 to marijuana possession and criminal trespass.
Diadell was arrested after showing up Jan. 15, 2013, at Bowden Golf Course, where he apparently had been banned from the premises.
As part of the plea agreement, an initial charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute was reduced to possession.
Bibb State Court records also show a postponement of a criminal trespass and family violence case for Diadell from 2012, as well as guilty pleas in 2014 for driving without a license and a drug DUI.
No charges were filed in Sunday night's shooting, but the investigation continues.
Investigators are trying to track down his alleged partner in the attempted robbery.
The suspect is described as a black man with a mustache and goatee who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and was wearing khaki pants and a camouflage jacket.
