Fort Valley man charged with 22 counts of cultivating marijuana

A 72-year-old Fort Valley man was arrested Sunday and charged with 22 counts of cultivating marijuana after Crawford County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found 22 marijuana plants and a book about growing marijuana on his property, according to a Crawford County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Edward Leandro Salinas is being held in the Crawford County Jail after Magistrate Judge Richard Spencer denied him bond on Monday.

Deputies responded to a call about suspected marijuana growth at 112 Wildwood Road in Fort Valley at around 8:11 p.m. on Sunday. The news release stated police found 22 marijuana plants, a marijuana grinder and a book titled “Indoor Marijuana Horticulture.” The plants were found to have a street value of about $3,500, according to the release.

Salinas was charged with 22 counts of cultivating marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug related objects and possession of marijuana of less than one ounce.
