Macon 16-year-old charged in murder indicted

Bibb County grand jurors indicted a Macon 16-year-old Tuesday in the Nov. 21, 2013, shooting death of a teenage girl on Cedar Avenue.

Dontavius “Man Man” Mintz of Lyn Drive, is charged with malice murder, felony murder and violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act, according to the indictment, filed in Bibb County Superior Court.

The indictment alleges Mintz was associated with "Bloomfield," a criminal street gang, when he fatally shot 16-year-old Alyssa Zari Jackson.

Jackson was standing outside, talking with another teenager when she was shot in the back. During the same incident, 13-year-old Charleston "Brother" Burnett III was grazed in the head by a bullet while traveling in a truck on Moseley Avenue. Burnett survived his injury.

Mintz has been held without bond at a regional youth detention center since his January arrest.

In a separate indictment filed in February, Mintz was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary and aggravated assault on allegations he and another teen forced a man out of his north Bibb County home at gunpoint Nov. 18 and ordered him to withdraw money from an ATM.
