Man indicted in Houston County woman's slaying
A Macon man was indicted Tuesday in the murder of his daughter's mother.
Brandon Sherod Davis, 30, is charged with malice murder and felony murder in the April 1 slaying of 26-year-old Chassity Lester, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.
Lester, who lived in Houston County, was found dead on Fairgrounds Road in north Houston County. Authorities later found blood at a house on Flamingo Drive in Macon, where Davis had been house sitting. Police also found what appears to be human tissue on a hammer at the house.
An autopsy determined Lester died from blunt force trauma and stabbing. Lester was beaten "about the head, neck and chest," according to the indictment.
Davis and Lester shared a 3-year-old daughter, but were no longer romantically involved at the time of the killing.
Davis, who was convicted of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in 2006, is being held at the county jail on $275,200 bond, according to jail records.
