Police charge man in Macon shooting death
Macon police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a Macon man this past weekend.
Police charged Deonte Marquis Kitchen with murder Thursday in the death of 32-year-old Aleino Culver, according to a statement from the department. Culver was shot in the chest Oct. 29 while sitting inside a 1997 Crown Victoria in the 800 block of Little Short Street.
The department’s Gang Unit, officer Enrique Hogan, who is assigned to the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and police investigators developed leads in the case, and Kitchen was charged Thursday.
“I’m proud of the work of these officers and law enforcement agents — and the speed with which they arrested Deonte Kitchen,” Chief Mike Burns said in a statement. “Boosting the manpower in our Gang Unit was a key to solving this case and one of many facets of my overall plan to thwart crime and keep the city safe.”
Kitchen’s arrest was his eighth arrest dating to 2008. He was arrested most recently in early June and released two weeks later, police said.
