Man found dead in Monroe County 18-wheeler trailer fire, deputies say. Here’s more.

A man was found dead after an 18-wheeler trailer caught fire in Jackson on Monday morning.

Monroe County sheriff deputies responded to the fire on Pine Road at 5:15 a.m, said Anna Lewis, public information coordinator with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

It appears the trailer was being used as a residence, she said.

The man has not been identified, and the body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation lab for an autopsy.

The Monroe County Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire, she said.
