Gunman fires through apartment door, kills one and wounds another
Multiple gunshots woke residents of a Milledgeville apartment complex early Friday.
At about 4:30 a.m., Baldwin County sheriff's deputies were called to a report of shots fired at Cedar Ridge Apartments at 141 Frank Bone Road.
Baldwin sheriff's Capt. Brad King said one man was found dead inside a bathroom and another was wounded in his bed in unit No. 16.
"It was obvious someone tried to make entry to the front door but did not succeed," King said.
Multiple gun shots, "likely in the double-digits," were fired into the back sliding glass door, King said.
"We don't believe our offender in this case actually made it inside," he said.
Lamarcus Jarrod Jones, 33, was likely in his living room when he suffered a fatal gunshot wound and made it as far as the bathroom where he died.
Reginald Deon Harris, 28, was shot in the arm while he was asleep in his bed, King said.
Harris was taken to Medical Center, Navicent Health, in Macon and released.
He was being interviewed at the sheriff's office Friday afternoon.
Two women in the apartment were not hurt, King said.
Investigators are conducting interviews and are trying to identify the shooter who was gone when deputies arrived.
GBI crime scene technicians and investigators are assisting Baldwin deputies.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Baldwin County deputies at 478-445-4891 or phone anonymous tips to Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
