A masked man walked inside of a gas station in Byron early Monday morning, pointed a gun at the store clerk and robbed the place.

The Byron Police Department is investigating the 3 a.m. stickup at Raceway gas station off Ga. 49 near Interstate 75.

After emptying the cash drawers, the store clerk was forced to lie on the floor until the bandit fled, according to a news release from the department.

The man is described as thin, about 6 feet tall. Police were able to take still images of the bandit from video surveillance footage.

Anyone with information about the stickup is urged to call the police department at 478-956-2493 or 478-956-2880 or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
